The venue: Cabin at Old Spur
Located in Timmonsville, South Carolina, The Cabin at Old Spur is an expansive backdrop featuring a gorgeous pond, open skies, and 70 acres of forestry, making it the perfect location for couples who want a relaxed, outdoor wedding. Nestled in the midst of lush greenery and expansive fields, couples can take their pick for their ceremony location with various backdrops to choose from. The Shaw's chose to have their ceremony with the serene, blue pond as the backdrop to their union. This venue also features a covered awning for those days when the weather does not quite cooperate, making it a great backup location to ensure peace of mind. Madison and Justin could not have picked a better location to celebrate their love!
The details: Full of whimsy
One of Madison's only requests was a free spirited flatlay. While most brides want a traditional flatlay with an extremely organized layout, she wanted something that reflected the feeling of whimsy that she implemented into her details. The invitational suite was the perfect floral design from Minted and set the stage for the remainder of their details. Her perfume from Marc Jacobs smelled just as beautiful as it looked--I can confirm :) Her personalized jewelry from Etsy added delicate elegance to her look. One detail that most stood out to me was her gift to her future husband; Madison had custom cufflinks designed by Galloway and Mosely. On them, their initials, wedding date, and a sweet message was inscribed. Now for the star of the details: THE DRESS!! Madison bought two dresses for this perfect day. After some dress regret after purchasing the first one, the second one was the winner without a doubt. The bridal consultants at Fancy's Bridals in Lake City helped her find the lace, basque-waist dress of her (and my ;)) dreams! This dress could not have been any more perfect for Mrs. Shaw!
Getting Ready: Setting the tone
From the moment I walked in the getting ready rooms, I could tell that this group was SO supportive of the bride and groom. To start, Madison's bridesmaids surprised her with a scrapbook of memories over the course of their friendship. This moment had everyone in the room in tears. Not only was Madison's bridesmaids a special part of her morning, her mom was there for every second. Truly, she felt like a seventh member of the friend group. The bond between the bride and her mother was so obvious and so, so sweet. After Madison was all dolled up and ready to go, we had a moment to snap a couple of bridal portraits that turned out GORGEOUS!! Scroll through the photos below to experience the beauty of Madison's morning.
The boys had an equally as special bond. They arrived at the groom's cabin dressed and ready to go. But before they could go on with the ceremony, Justin had a special gift for each of them. These gifts represented their friendship and love in the most touching way. Scroll below to see how Justin and his groomsmen spent the morning.
First look: Girlhood
Prior to Madison getting dressed, the bridesmaids left the room to save the excitement for the grand reveal. I wanted the beautiful pond to act as the backdrop for this special moment. After dodging the rain, my second photographer, Lindee, set up the girls on the dock. We placed Madison in the perfect location to get both the reaction of the bride and her girls. After Madison told them to turn around, the girls were overcome with emotion. Tears were shed and laughs were had, but ultimately, this ended in one group hug where they all hyped the bride up for the upcoming ceremony. The rain held off just long enough for the girls to help Madison get tucked away inside until her first touch with Justin.
First Touch: A private vow exchange
After celebrating with her girls, Madison was anxious to see her soon to be husband. Under a beautiful oak tree, the two took a few minutes to spend time together before the ceremony. Madison wanted to keep the traditional first look for the ceremony, so this was the perfect option. As they stood back to back, this bride and groom exchanged personal, heartfelt vows expressing their love and devotion to one another. There was not a dry eye in the house, folks!
Gifts: extra Sentiment
As if the first touch was not emotional enough, Madison and Justin also surprised each other with sentimental gifts. From Justin, Madison received a pearl necklace, and Madison gifted Justin custom cufflinks--both gifts from Galloway and Mosely.
The ceremony: an intimate union
Guests seated themselves at the ceremony location and waited in the shade as the wedding party lined up behind closed doors. It was a full, yet intimate gathering with only the closest friends and family. The processional began with family and wedding party walking down the aisle. The music swelled and it was time for the groom to see his bride for the first time. This moment was incredibly special as everyone in the crowd could see the joy written all over Madison and Justin's faces. Vows and rings were exchanged and the two became husband and wife! The crowd quite literally erupted in cheers and the two RAN down the aisle (stopping only for a quick kiss;)).
Group Pictures: Family
Group pictures are one of the most important pictures of anyone's wedding day. They can be quick, but they are proof of the support from the ones you love. These groups were so easy and fun to work with! Take a moment to see how Madison and Justin's friends and family showed up for them.
Group Pictures: Wedding Party
For about 15 minutes after family pictures, we spent time celebrating the Shaws with the entire wedding party. This group was SO fun and easy to work with.
Cocktail HOur: Drinks & Fun
The Shaw's cocktail hour took place while we worked on group and couple pictures. Details were not spared for this affair with a gorgeous seating chart, champagne wall, open bar, beautiful greenery from Forest Lake Green House, and charcuterie tables. Wedding favors were sprinkled throughout such as honey jars and tattoos of the couple's dogs. A Bible was used for guests to highlight versus of inspiration for the couple down the road. The cake by Four Hartz Bakery matched the theme perfectly with icing wildflowers. Signature drinks were also offered at the bar for an added layer of personalization.
Couple Portraits: Mr & Mrs
The most important pictures from any wedding day (in my humble opinion) are the portraits as husband and wife. I make sure to set aside at least 30 minutes for a session that captures the fresh love between the new Mr. and Mrs. This was also very important to the Shaws--particularly Justin! When Madison told me that JUSTIN requested golden hour photos, I was THRILLED! There is nothing better than having a groom that is excited about their portraits. This short session was able to provide these two with a few minutes to themselves before partying with the rest of the guests. A moment to breathe and take in their new life together.
More portraits: Bridals and pups
A major portion of the Shaw's wedding day included their pups. Opal, Violet, and Wrigley were more than happy to participate! After couple portraits, we made sure to include the doggos! If there is time, I also love to sneak away with the bride to get some photos of her in her wedding dress. I think we are all obsessed with these!

Party Time: The reception
After portraits were finished, it was time to PARTY!! The couple spent the night dancing, celebrating, and spending time with those they love most. Trust me--a time was had! Between glow sticks, ABBA, cake cutting, and tattoos, this reception was one to remember!
Send off: but make it classic
To end the night the Shaws drove off in a cherry red, classic car!
Special Thanks
This day would not be the success it was without this awesome vendor team!
